Amid the ever-growing popularity of healthcare lotteries and government cuts to healthcare funding, it has become all the more challenging and imperative for a mega-lottery to succeed.
Since 1999, the Cash for Cancer Lottery has been an annual fundraising triumph for the R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre. By securing generous sponsorships and corporate partnerships, while ensuring creativity at every level of planning and implementation, the Cash for Cancer Lottery has consistently overcome the challenges of the times.
To date, the lottery has raised over $16 million, making it the single largest contributor to the Cancer Center. Every year, in addition to its revenues, the lottery inspires new monthly donors and memorial donations, among others. The Cash for Cancer Lottery was the brainchild of Uncommon Results’ Jim Szeman, and it continues to thrive under his leadership.
Over the years, the Cash for Cancer Lottery has created nine millionaires and delighted countless winners with new cottages, dream vacations, home renovations, shopping sprees and new cars with free gas for a year.
